buying a boat

Trying to buy my first moomba, I am a hack (new wakeboarder) want to wakesurf and love to ski!! Any input on which boat would work better the outback or the outback v-drive??? Any online resources that help you figure out how much to pay??

Don't forget to check out the LS on the site. It will cost a little less than the Outback V and is a great crossover boat.

The Outback DD is the best bang fer yer hard earned dollar. Dependable, reliable, easy to work on when regular service comes around. We ski, wakeboard, wakeskate, tube, and I've been lead to believe by a very reliable source I can even learn to surf.

No I don't have my LS yet, I only got to sit in it for 3 hours at the Atlanta Boat show, would have stayed in it longer but I think they were going to call security and escort my wife and 2 kids out of there. The boat is due in early March. Was going to buy an outback V but decided that a DD is still the best way to go. I mean I have had my MasterCraft for 22 years. They do make a nice boat but it was time to go modern and Moomba was by far the best value! Really if you are looking for a DD the differences are , besides the cost, how many people you want to take. They are both great boats!

From my limited experience and something you may want to consider is V drives tend to re-sale better. Not that you would ever want sell but it may be a deciding factor.

How serious of a skier are you? Plenty of people say you can ski behind the V drive etc. But if you are a slalom course skier I would get the Outback. I am a course skiier and kneeboarder. The Outback weighted down offers plenty of wake for that. However, I do acknowledge that if you are going to grow into wakeboardind more than skiing then the V drive might be your better choice.

I'm with deerfield !! I had an 07 Outback and just traded it for an 08. Awesome boat!! Great bang for the buck and a truely versatile family boat.

I've heard that the outback V migh not be around all that much longer. I agree with Z, the Mobius LS is a great crossover boat. I love my 07 Outback, and it is an awsum boat, but if I had a choice to do it agian I would go with the LS, just a deeper bigger boat with a great list of options stock. As has been seen before for less money you get more boat with the Mobius vs a similairly equiped Outback V. I'll even risk my wifes rath and say my next boat soon will be a Mobius LS.

I often wonder why the LS is so ignored on this site? I too wanted a Outback V but after looking at them side by side I found much more to offer for a little less than the V with the LS. We do go through the course but also wanted a boat with more room. If I didn't need the room I would keep the MasterCraft. I also like the fact that it is a newer design than the V. I spoke to some serious skiers at the Atlanta boat show and they said it was a great ski boat. So if you have a family or lots of people and you want to continue to ski and also have the option to wakeboard well then like Wakeboard magazine said "the LS is a great crossover boat!" It can do it all!
