Rotella here as well. Did some research on filters and found that the Napa gold filters are the best available...they are made by Wix and not too much more expensive.

On that synthetic oil, Indmar says you still have to change oil @ 50 hour intervals.

Doubling the oil change interval time DOES NOT APPLY TO THE ENGINE IN YOUR BOAT. Now that I am done yelling, let me explain. Marine engines run cold compared to the engine in your car or truck. This means that the oil runs colder too. The oil may not get hot enough to allow all of the impurities, unburned gasoline, moisture etc., to evaporate from the oil. Oil changes every 50hours or annually are the minimum no matter what kind of oil you use. If you only run on a small lake or never run your engine above 3500-4000 rpm for extended times (10 to 15 minutes at a crack) we would like to see the oil changed every 25 hours.

Hey I'm easy, no problems, will go with the suggested intervals.

By the way, can you tell me why I blew not one but 2 hoses on my motor this summer. The first one was with less than 45 minutes on the motor (I heard later that there was a service bulletin on this one). And the second one was the day after I got my boat back from its 20 hr check up?

    Sorry....dint mean no harm.

I'd like to think that you could go longer w/ synth, also. Everything I've heard about it says you can. But I'm just an end user, not the expert.
