    Default Depth Finder

    Just bought a depth finder and was wondering where and how to run everything I have 2002 Moomba Outback there is a spot right by the shifter where I think it goes just wondering how everything else runs from there thanks for any help.

    i installed a depth finder on my old 02 outback. epoxy the transducer puck on the starboard side approx right under the transmission by the rear engine mounts

    mine worked great.

    qb12, did you have to sand the inside of the hull smooth? what epoxy did you use? Im working on getting my going and I cant find a good spot.

    i lightly sanded the hull where i applied the puck. i just used a marine grade epoxy i bought at auto part store.

    Did you test it before you applied the epoxy? Ive heard some say use vaseline on the bottom of the puck before you glue it just to make sure it works in that location.

    nope, just got lucky i guess. i put it where Brian R told me to and it worked great.

    I put it under the transmission by the engine mounts started to read the directions and it said to make sure it work in that area before you epoxy it down no way to check it unless your in the water so I just let it set there worked great used it the last 2 weeks I am going to epoxy it down this week got a huming bird depth finder from overtons slid right into the spot where the blank gauge was ran the wires and was on my way it comes with the epoxy and everything you need best thing i ever got seeing how are lake is down real low. Thanks for all the help.

    I finally got the depth finder to work. The first location I put it in, the fiberglass was bumpy and sanding it didnt really make a difference. I found a location directly under the transmission that was already smooth. I epoxied it in place and 30 minutes later was on the lake using it. I tried various ways to test to see if it would work before making the commitment to epoxy and none worked. I decided to bite the bullet and epoxy anyway once I found the smooth location. Im glad I didnt have to get rid of my volt guage or cut a new hole. This little guage is going to work out nice.
