We always use "Ready". It is the most phonetically distinct on that we found.
We used to use "OK", but found that too many beginners said it repeatedly as they were preparing, trying to keep all the things that they had been told in mind. "Go" (and of course "no") also sound similar.
"Give'r" just sounds like gibberish, especially over the din of passenger chatter (which also has to be sqelched every once in a while, politely).
So, "Ready" it is.
BTW, "Ready?" is also a good thing to say to a bride as she is about to walk down the aisle, after explaining it as the last thing that an alien said just before gleefully draining Arthur's mind in "The Tick" cartoon series. I assume that that will work for anyone, yes?
