Skiing Pics best/worst

Alright, I figured since someone started a wakeboard picture post, I would start a skiing picture post as well. Post some of your best skiing pics or your favorite wipeout!!

Here are two pics from last year. The first one is my wife skiing on an ancient 66" O'Brien.
The second one is my dad on his 60th Birthday, yes that's right 60th. I still can not beat him no matter how hard I try!!!

Slack rope = BAD.

To manage that slack, get that front knee bent going into the turn and ski away from the rope. Try to get both feet in the water at the start of the turn. The bent knee will put more ski in the water and make better use of the wing on your fin, if you have one, for deceleration...

This is me at 22' off I believe, 34mph, behind our 20007 Moomba Outback. The fall picture looks very similar, only my hip is deeper in the water and my arms are pushed to the outside. Other bad form ones are huge wheelies on my bad (right side).



The statement about the slack is true, switch edges earlier so that you can push the front of the ski back into the cut and accelerate very quickly out of the turn.

This is me skiing about 1 month before we bought our Outback.

Notice how long it takes the old I/O to drag me out of the water.

This is also before I ever tried a course. I have now done 1 set through a course and got 5/6, 15' off at 30 mph. But now I know how a heroin junky feels after their first hit.

I'll post a comparison video this summer with the Outback. Summer is still schedule for this year?

I think you ski a lot like I do in some ways. Pity you and that huge wake. It makes the pre-turn difficult. I am assuming your Outback is a bit easier.

I am no instructor, but judging by your footage I recommend that you start skiing one handed. You certainly appear to be ready for that. It will help you get wider and maybe turn just a hair quicker. And increase the speed to 32 or 34. You find it more entertaining.

It's already a huge improvement behind the Outback. What a difference!!!

I had my first lesson last summer (after that video) and have a lot to work on. My lesson was at McClintock's in Cambridge, Ontario. Hopefully my improvement will show through on the next video if our lake ever turns to liquid again.

I'm so used to free skiing that I never really tried one-handed turns. It's actually quite difficult to get used to.

My wife and I have some lessons booked at the McGinnis ski school in Florida for next month and my goal is to do 15' off at 32mph including the gates. Hopefully with one handed turns.

I'm also thinking of getting the EZ-Slalom portable course in the spring. I hope it's as easy to use as their website suggests.

If you can make the course two handed that is quite a feat in my book. It is strange to get used to - onhanded...

I barely remember the first few times I tried. Very tentative. Hand only inches away from the handle.

Lessons are a good idea - I wish I had taken them 30 years ago. Probably would have saved me decades shackled to 15 off @30.

Good luck - once you get it worked out you will wonder how you ever could ski two handed.
