More Engine Troubles
Hi, you may remember I wrote about my engine packing up a couple of weeks ago from what I thought was the wrong oil going in to her. Well the engine is now out and it turns out the sump plug has completely corroded.
From looking at the surrounding area it appears that it is a raised dome of metal, is this normal or has some one made a very bad repair??
My service guy is recommending I get a whole new short or long block as a strip and rebuild will probably cost the same..?? Does this sound like good advice??
Can any one recommend a good Indmar engine supplier??
Do you think i have any come back with Indmar, she is only 2004 with 220 hrs.

Re-powering a boat is expensive. You can save a ton if you can do most of the work yourself. If the main marine stuff off the old one is in good shape and you can just swap it over to the new one, a short block should be enough.
.
Hope this helps

I am guessing you are running in salt water? That corrosion is nasty!
