Default 2000 Outback vs Outback LS?

Hello, I am in the buyers market for my first inboard ski boat. I have been skiing since I was 11, but it was never behind a "real" (straight inboard) ski boat until last summer; what a difference!

Anyway, I found a 2000 Outback for sale. What is the difference between a 2000 Outback and a 2000 Outback LS?

    Thanks

Go to "About Moomba" and then click on "archives". You should see a option for the 2000 model boats. Click on each model and it should give you specs and information on each model.

Thanks, but I've already done that; the only difference shown is a 4 gallon lower fuel capacity on the Outback LS.

    Thank you

I'm not positive about 2000 models, but this is how it works in general. The Outback is the only world record approved hull. It is lighter narrower and has less freeboard and an insanely flat wake. The LS has more freeboard (taller sides) and a bigger wake. I am a slalom skier, so the Outback was the only boat I looked at. If you don't need the sick slalom wake, I would go to one of the v-drives. You can get a skiable wake from one of them (with a wakeplate) and have more room for people and stuff. I hope this helps.

    Good luck,

I have a 2000 Outback LS and the main difference that year is the interior layout. The Outback and Outback LS are the same hull (20 feet 6 inches) but the LS has a rear ski locker and a few upgrades. In 2001, the LS got a new larger hull described above (20 feet 8 inches) and the older 2000 LS hull and interior became the plain Outback which I believe is essentially the same hull today. Hope this helps.

    Thank's for the correction Andy.

daneav8 - Sounds like you can't go wrong. The rear locker is very convenient, so I would pick the LS if there is a choice.

    Good luck and happy boating.
