Default May picture/video thread. Post them if you got them.

Well, It's that time of the year. I know a lot of people are getting out on the water, especially you guys where the temps are getting high. I've been out the last 3 weeks with a drysuit. Water is chilly but we have the lake to ourselves.

Made it to Lake Powell for a day. Water was already 65-70 and smooth as glass. Even did some waterskiing!

Got the boat pulled out of the garage. Last fall I spent several days buffing and waxing the exterior. I had a lot of light scratching from bumpers/piers plus a few larger scratches. These sanded and buffed out nicely.

    Looks new again..

I injured my back somehow a few weeks ago and that has put a damper on getting on the water but we are hoping to get out next weekend!

For a buffer I use a random orbit DA polisher. Started off with a Maguires cleaner wax, then polish, then carnauba wax.

For light scratches just did a few extra passes with the cleaner wax and a course pad.

For deeper scratches (I had a few) I started off with a 320 grit wet sand (soapy water) to remove the scratch, then worked my way up to 2500 grit to remove the sanding marks. I have a foam sanding pad that works nice..I can wrap it with different grits of sandpaper.

Lastly used a heavier scratch removal wax and worked my way up to a polish then carnauba..

Key when sanding off a bigger scratch is to sand a larger area around the scratch to feather it in…this way it blends real nice. If you focus too hard on just the scratch you will be able to see where you removed the material. Of course if the scratch is too deep you’ll need a pro to fill it in..

I always get a bit nervous sanding on the boat, but it always buffs out perfectly..just need to work at it for a little while.

Finally getting back out on the water. Redid my numbers with some sweet 3d printed number in Moomba font made locally by Chris. These have laser cut 3M tape on the numbers for a perfect fit. I spent Saturday morning getting them on and they look great.

Using my offical spacer to set my numbers

For anybody interested in numbers or any of the other Moomba/ Supra items he has heres a link to his store https://www.etsy.com/listing/1819103...1%3A1819103145

Those look great. In Tennessee are you not required to have a contrasting color for your numbers from the background?
