    Default Full Re-Upholstery Costs

I have a 2003 22ssv that I'm doing a full re-upholstery on. It is the first upholstery job for me but I have some experience with canvas work. It won't be perfect but it will be laid out exactly like the original (minus the Supra patches on the seats.

I have about $1200 in supplies so far; vinyl, sew foam, adhesive, staples, piping cord and other stuff. I'm about halfway through it and getting ready to start the side panels and rear bench back. What is left will be the most complicated for sure. What I'm interested in is current estimates or costs for the same project (although done by a professional).

Anyone have some recent experience with this?

I had a friend pay around $5k a little while back.

I know prices will vary due to 1) what part of the country you live in, 2) what vinyl you choose, and 3) if you are willing to remove everything and take it to the shop, it's cheaper - I know those shops do not necessarily want to mess around with removing and reinstalling.

Do you have any pictures of what you've done? Just curious.

I'll post a couple pictures. I'm applying a foam backer to the seated areas so the edges are not tucking as clean as the original but they are all hidden by other panels. I'm working on the center sundeck/engine cover right now. I have about 10 hours into it alone. Working on the notch for the ski pole now.

I have watched some of the people who do upholstery before in shops. They sure make it look easier than it is.

Everytime I have thought about doing this, my next thought is shopping for new/used boats.

I don't have the patience for upholstery.
