Default 2005 Moomba Mobius XLV ECM fried

My worst nightmare. Battery got under water and of course is toast(fresh water btw)
Boat will run for ~30 mins then heats up and dies. Marina says it is a fried ECM and part is $4K. Then another $6-10K to rewire, says without doing this they cannot warranty it. Other option mentioned is to convert to carburator for ~10K. Does any of this sound reasonable? I have an email in to Indmar as well, waiting to hear back.

I have not done any research on the ECM, but I would start with Indmar. I recall a company/web site called MEFIburn by OBD Diagnostics that did sales on new equipment and repair on existing equipment. You would probably need your part # when speaking with them. I recall the ECM part to be around $2-4k all depending on what motor you have. Usually places like that can also guide you on a wire harness or where to go to get one built.

Not sure they have your specific parts, but SkiDim and Great Lakes Skipper are also places to look for parts and knowledge.

For the year of boat you have, the carb option sounds good.

    Thanks, MJH.
The best I'm seeing is the $4K for ECM from OBD. Thinking of paying the 10K to switch to carb....

I don't know a lot about ECMs so i can't comment on that. Would you have to rewire the whole boat? I know you might be chasing some electrical "gremlins" afterwards but maybe put the new ECM in and then see how things go? I believe most people are not fans of carburaters once you've been to fuel injection. Not saying it wouldn't be fine but if I were swapping out the engine I don't know if I would go to carburated. Not sure why a complete rewire is needed.
Wire harness is marine quality (aka built for water).

Unplug everything, use dryer fans for a couple weeks in the hull, plug it all back in and try it.
During this time take your ecm indoors and let dry out also.

Having had carb boats, I would pay to keep fuel injection any day.

I would not spend $10K to convert to a carb from a TBI/EFI motor... There would most definitely be other options = anywhere from eBay to boat wrecking yards (yes they do exist) to even going with a Holley Sniper type of system. I'm sure it could or already has been done.

Are you handy/mechanical? This is not rocket science. You could do the majority of the work yourself, perhaps with help.
So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?
