    Default Cleaning hull stains

It's getting time to pull the outback out of the water. I'll need to clean the hull of some hard water staining. I have read that we use muriatic acid, roll it on and wash it off.
    Is this the case?

Star Brite for the win. How bad are your stains?
So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

They will be pretty nasty. I've been trying to scrub it in the water but even having a hard time scratching it off with my nails

On a previous boat, I used the Star Brite product and had success. That is basically oxalic acid, water, and another solvent. I never did research on how to make my own homemade recipe, just used the store products. There are other commercial products out there. I've read on other boat forums that people use toilet bowl cleaners (lysol 10x) from the dollar stores - sounds sort of funny using that. Never tried it, but I think some of those use hydrochloric acid (10%) mixed with water, which is a stronger cleaner.

Also used a plastic straight edge and hand scrubber for stubborn spots - made sure the area was plenty wet. Worked on small sections at a time to make sure I got the area cleaned up so I would not have to go over it again.

Nasty job when using those solvents. Protect your trailer too when using acid-based products. Gloves and eye protection if you are climbing under the boat.

I used a product called Slimy Grimy over the last several years and it works great!
