After 8 yrs I thought it wise to service my trailer bearings. Vault says no service for 5 yrs. I only trailer the boat in and out once a year as I have a dock. Maybe a few more times due to service. I ordered the seals and special grease and watched a good video on You Tube. Be sure to order this: CHARLOTTE PIPE 2 x 1 1/2 SCH 40 REDUCER BUSHING SPGXS PRESSURE, it’s about $3.50 on Amazon and makes the job easier.
The job is not too difficult, just messy. The most difficult part was removing the bolts that hold the caliper brackets. The brackets are cast aluminum or some alloy and the bolts are steel. Therefore, corrosion occurs between the dissimilar metals. They turn HARD the whole way out. My bearings and races were in great condition so I just cleaned them and re-lubed them.
It took me about 3 hours to do 2 wheels, I will finish the other 2 tomorrow.
