2016 Craz Boatmate trailer Vault bearing service done!
After 8 yrs I thought it wise to service my trailer bearings. Vault says no service for 5 yrs. I only trailer the boat in and out once a year as I have a dock. Maybe a few more times due to service. I ordered the seals and special grease and watched a good video on You Tube. Be sure to order this: CHARLOTTE PIPE 2 x 1 1/2 SCH 40 REDUCER BUSHING SPGXS PRESSURE, it’s about $3.50 on Amazon and makes the job easier.
The job is not too difficult, just messy. The most difficult part was removing the bolts that hold the caliper brackets. The brackets are cast aluminum or some alloy and the bolts are steel. Therefore, corrosion occurs between the dissimilar metals. They turn HARD the whole way out. My bearings and races were in great condition so I just cleaned them and re-lubed them.
It took me about 3 hours to do 2 wheels, I will finish the other 2 tomorrow.Last edited by DRHRSH; 07-29-2024 at 10:28 PM.

Did one that started to leak grease, 10yo since new, lubricated the disk pads very well!
Yeah the caliper retaining bolts were very difficult to remove but once out the rest was easy.
Did just the one and used about 2/3s of a cartridge of grease, pretty exy here at 100aud but better than doing bearings every year if its going to last again.
The cones and bearings looked to be in great shape so simply reused them. We've done bearings on our Seadoo trailer and each year they need replacing due to water ingress, while cheap and nasty it's the mess and time consumed I could do without. Will see if I've done the right process with the boatmate in a couple of months when the warmer weather comes around.
