The Skier’s demo boat is nice looking too.

They did a great job on this boat design.

I think I was around 3500 rpm at 10.5 pitch. Just going offhand because only thing I made sure was to stay below 4000 rpm for break-in.

Took the boat out solo yesterday and made an informal in-depth video with thoughts on the new boat compared to my Max. Obviously much of the 2024 features y’all already know about, but I also give some DSD audio examples and some surf footage. Timestamps are in the description and video if you want to skip around. Hope you enjoy, it’s long AF and honestly I could go on much longer just gushing over this beast lol.

I will be curious to see the reviews of the 400, with a mid-size crew, and 500#s of lead.

I know Wake9 is supposed to be testing a 400, but it will be interesting to see what prop they will use.

Yea man this thing pops and hits hard in theater! Love the lines in it and the ultra blue of course.

I had a more in-depth post on the FB group after I posted it there this morning. Covers some of the prop side of things.

“This weekend I made an in-depth tour video of our new SV. I went over all the 2024 features which I’m sure by now most on here are aware of, gave some DSD audio examples, showed the surf wave with 1 person in the boat and 500 lbs of lead, gave comparisons and thoughts on the boat vs my Max, ride quality, and much more. It’s a long video at just over 17 minutes, but don’t worry, I’ve added timestamps in the description and on the video timeline so you can skip to whatever you want to hear or see.

I will say this boat with the 400 engine and 16x13.9 prop near sea level can’t hit 11’s with full ballast and 500 lbs of lead with the center plate below 35. I intend to move some of the lead towards the bow to see if that allows me to hit mid to high 11’s surfing. I also intend to buy a 16x12.50 prop and keep the 13.9 as a backup spare. I think the more aggressive pitch will help the boat run 11’s or higher on surf speeds regardless of lead or passenger placement. With the center plate at 35 and my lead placement, I was still able to achieve a pitch of 10 degrees, so maybe running at 11.x isn’t needed unlike what I did with my Max? I need to test this more now that break-in hours are over and I can lean on the motor more. Regardless of the pitch and speed numbers, just look at that wave or my previous videos. It speaks for itself! This boat packs a helluva punch stock or with just one person in the boat with a little lead!

More testing to do with moving lead around first before changing props and I’ll be sure to document more on the surf side of things next video. I know that Wake9 is also supposed to be demoing the SV with the 400 engine soon, so it should be interested to see what they think as well wilth the speeds Inand others are seeing with the 400 in the SV. Maybe 0 surf plate is not needed with this boat? Wave looks great at 0 center plate at 10.9 mph or at 35-45 center plate and 11.4 mph.

In short the SV is an absolute winner and we love it so far! It checks a ton of the boxes I realized we wanted after owning the Max for 5 years. Don’t get me wrong I love the Max and it’s an awesome boat, but they are not the same target and I get that. For what the Max is targeting there is no better boat IMO, especially the 2024’s Moomba’s compared to my 2019. Can’t wait to hit the water again on this amazing machine! Huge thanks to my dealership Skier's Marine for all the help and hospitality over the years. Grown to really enjoy hanging with them when I’m down their way. Great bunch of folks with that company now all across the South.

Sorry for the long read and long video but is what it is ”

Here is raw surf speed test run footage. As I’ve mentioned, with my current lead placement I’m unable to get into the 11’s with the center plate at 0. I will need to move some lead from the surf locker and maybe a little from the midship storage to the bow and helm areas. Kind of weight the boat more midship to helm biased vs surf locker to midship bias. I think or hope that lead distribution and 100 ballast will allow me to run the center plate at 0 to whatever and be in the 11’s. I’m able to make a nice wave in the 11’s but I have to get the center plate at 20 or so. From there it’s gravy whatever speed I want I think. More testing to do but I was crispy and done from being on the water all day and didn’t really feel like going through a bunch of plate scenarios and moving lead so I only did 3 runs with minimal changing of things other than center plate to adjust speed. Surf plate settings were stock 85 regular and 95 goofy (I assume those are stock numbers). All in all no matter what this boat can throw a wave and seems pretty adjustable on shape just based on center plate and boat attitude. Going to be a fun summer tinkering and dialing this thing in!

How much engine noise did you get running it and what prop do you run now? I wonder if maybe I should try the 16x13 first and see how that does vs going straight to the 12.50?

BTW I ran the numbers today with full ballast, 500 lbs of lead, just me onboard, and I’m at minimum 10,670 lbs total displacement!! That’s unreal for the size of the boat. By comparison that is 869 lbs heavier than my 2019 Max with larger ballast bags. That doesn’t include gear and other crap. Pretty impressive IMO! Reduced fill and drain times are nice too!
