From the looks of the boot on that ski I am guessing that ski is somewhere around 15 yrs old? Time to give in and buy a new one lol. You won't believe how much skis have changed/improved. I broke down about 3 yrs ago and got a nice Radar ski and holy cow it is such an improvement. Not to mention the boots are so much better as well. Money well spent if you still like to get out and ski a lot.

Scott, your correct its an old one at this point, but still worth attempting to save it, plus I'm cheap. I normally don't ski very often but here lately been picking it up more and more especially when the water is glass. Probably time to invest in a newer one. Been so long since Ive looked at a ski, any recommendations on one?

I am no expert by any means on skis but most of the guys I ski with use Radars and have loved them. I bought a Radar Senate Alloy a couple of yrs ago and love it. The Radar Lyric and the Union are probably a step down but still great all around skis for open water skiing. If you look around you can usually find a close out on last yrs model for a few hundred off.

Pitch it. You catch an unexpected edge and you'll be fixing more than your ski. Skiiers should also check all of the fasteners and screws periodically.

I caught a bad edge on a ski with the boot adjusted too tight and wound up wearing a different kind of boot for 12 weeks

My friend years ago got an HO like mine but fitted him with too small of boots. He took a fall that broke some bones in his foot. He got the boot changed out and eventually everything is fine.

Mine was torn ligaments and the tendon on th outside of my ankle pulling away and taking bone with it. Would up with microfracture to reestablish the tendon. It is mostly better but I have a numb spot on the top of my foot still 10 years later. That water sure was glassy though! I haven’t waterskied as much since then.

Radar does make great skis, I own a Senate and a Vapour Lithium. The lyric is the same shape as the Senate but with a bit more flex as it is designed to slay the lake as a women’s ski.
