Default Adhesive for decking - Why not construction adhesive?

My foam decking is really starting to peel off. I initially addressed this with the recommended 3M spray adhesive but will say that was only a marginal success. I prepped with acetone to get the old adhesive off. I found the spray application tough to work with in tight areas and did not get a lasting bond.

I am really close to pulling the trigger on using some construction adhesive. This loctite product seems like it would work and would be enormously easier to get the adhesive where you need it. Unless someone talks me out of it, might be heading to Lowes to give it a go.

I've used 3M weatherstripping adhesive on a lot of outdoor applications and it works well.

I would have already used something similar. spray glue is crap imo. only good for light upholstery work.

Only down side might be it's probably more difficult to remove whenever that time may come.

I always used a product called weldwood when we did hydroturf(similar to gatorstep) on jet skis. Its in a can and can be painted onto both surfaces with a brush. Let it dry completely and do a couple coats and it should hold strong.

My dealer tech recommended gel super glue to hold down peeling foam decking. I used "Loctite Super Glue Ultragel Control" on some peeling corners on the swim platform and dash area and it has held well for a couple years.

@Spatty99 I assume your swim platform submerges when surfing? Just wanted to make sure it is waterproof as it states it is water resistant.

Yes, the swim platform submerges and I haven't noticed any peeling. I only had to re-adhere maybe 1 square foot total around the entire boat but it has held perfectly everywhere thus far.

Thought about trying marine goop. Great reviews on Amazon. Waterproof.
