A bow cover and heater tubes. A place for kids to go to get warm and stay out of rain showers when you get caught in one.

these are what we use. My kids love them and wear them around the house through most of the winter

I live in south Florida and friends were shocked that a heater was mandatory on my boat purchase for this reason. My son wraps in a towel with the heater tube inside and is in heaven. It has made it possible to use the boat in the winter months when the water temp is in the 60s.

Rule of thumb is if you have young kids or a wife on the boat….. order the heater.

How true. I never had any complants of anyone being cold in the boat with a heat tube and dry beach towels to wrap in.

I live in northern Canada so we have this down to a science.

    1. Invest in a heater over the winter.
    2. Purchase a 2nd life jacket for the littles. Doesn’t have to be fancy.
    3. Get a poncho. The kids can change into dry clothes under it.
    4. Get a boat blanket. They are soft and furry on one side and lined with a sort of parachute material on the top to hold in that warm air from your newly installed heater.
    5. The snuggie is nice after they change out of the wet clothes and put on a dry life jacket.
    6. If you have the towel heater tray over your engine use it whenever possible to warm the dry clothes and dry life jacket, towels etc.
