Trailer Hitch Locks

Not directly related, but in the event that the storage facility needed to move your boat a lock may be a hindrance.
Thinking fire, broken water main, flooding etc.
Insurance is better than a lock IMO.

I use one when it's just sitting in my driveway saying "steal me" but behind a locked door it's of no value IMO. My battery grinder will take care of any of these locks in a minute or less, especially if it's inside and no one is watching.

Thank you all for the replies. I was actually searching the forum for trailer hitch threads, and there is another thread titled "trailer hitch lock". I usually don't search because I can't get the search function to work, but in this case I would have found the same thread with many of the same answers from the same members. Funny how that works.

Man I don't mean to spread fear, but I wouldn't sleep worth a crap! The comment about any of those locks being disabled in seconds with a cordless drill or grinder is very true. I would remove the whole tongue!

I am planning one night this week for delivery of my 2023 SL. I have to leave it at a storage facility until spring because we are building a garage and it wont be finished for a few months. The individual unit and the facility will be locked, but I also want to put a hitch lock on it. Anyone use a lock on the hitch?

I have used this one on my last boat, but have since misplaced the lock. I still have the keys.

Common, not really. But, it does happen. I have heard news stories and personal accounts from time to time. I'm honestly more scared about the speakers and accessories.

This was a few years back. I think they ended up recovering these boats.

In this mkt and a good mkt value insurance policy I don’t want the boat back if stolen!!!

I think pulling the swing tongue pin and putting a storage style lock in the hole is a solid way to secure. They have to cut the lock and also have some way to pull with no pin. Too much work for most crooks. At that point they will just steal amps and speakers!

I agree. If you take my boat, have at it.

I also use that tongue trick with a hockey puck style lock. Also put something over the hitch area.

Trying to get my bro-in-law to snag me one of those wheel boots they put on cars that have too many parking tickets in the city. Not sure how they would work on a trailer, look like a pain to put on, but hope the thief would go elsewhere.
