I went in 35 ft. There are some divers on the lake that retrieve stuff for folks but not sure if they charge anything and it may just be cheaper to buy another. It sucks that it happened. I’m just glad I didn’t have a hole in the side of my boat when it broke loose!

I knew this day was going to be messed up when it all started with backing the boat down while forgetting to remove the transom straps. Doh!
A couple of weeks ago it was tears and 20’something angst when my niece left her phone one one of the flip-up seats on the port swim locker. I was getting the tube ready (which puts me in a bad mood) and without regard opened the locker to get the tube… and kerplunk!!! Another iPhone 13plus and workplace key cards in Davey Jones’ locker. The drama that ensued with that big life lesson.

I’d be more upset at losing my box anchor. Best anchor I’ve ever used.

Man! I did that exact same thing to one of my sons friends phone, except it was on the flip up lid of a plastic dock box life jacket locker. Right next to the water! Kids these days don't seem to think twice about just setting down a phone anywhere. Middle of the floor, on a stair step, wherever. And then get upset if someone doesn't see it and steps on it. If I own something that is breakable, I am careful of where I place it. Phone, glasses, watch etc...

I am like you guys though, the anchor would have bothered me more!

My boat briefings will now include the statement that any electronics that come over the gunnel are at risk of being lost. Keep it in the cabin!!!

So the creek is plenty wide enough unless there are docks on both sides.

Same thing happened to me. I eye balled the spot where the anchor went in and I directed my ex-Navy buddy to the spot, he dove own in 20 feet of water and I got lucky as he had it in his hand. I used a D ring and failed to wire the bolt. Interesting enough, the next day we were at a beach about 300 yards from where we were the day before and my buddy was swimming and came across an anchor rope. We pulled it up with a Danforth anchor and a bungee rope. So he got his reward.

Nah I usually toss it out and then tie off on the cleat. As soon as I tossed it and it hit the water the carabiner popped off and down she went. All I could was just watch the bubbles as it disappeared lol. My wife’s jaw and mine were gobsmacked it just happened. Then I checked the side of my boat for any damage as the carabiner popped back and hit it but thankfully no chips or anything. Was lucky it didn’t knock some gel off or worse the carabiner come off as I’m tossing it and the anchor hit the gunnel LOL.

I’m going to see if I can borrow a magnet from a guy at the lake or see what the diver may charge to get it. I have the coordinates in the general area and our waters are clear in that spot so it shouldn’t be hard for a diver to find. Not sure it will be cheaper than buying a new one but worth a shot. This also made me realize I need to carry a backup anchor of some sort because we just had to find a calm cove to float in but constantly had to relocate due to winds and waves.
