Default Shifting into Reverse '19 MAx

I am not getting the normal click and humming transmission ring when shifting into reverse. It almost feels like a clutch is slipping then it goes into gear. But by that time, the there is too much engine power and it jolts the bolt. Is this an adjustment needed the on the transmission or throttle lever assembly? OR something more sinister?

I will let the engine guys cover this but I can say from experience with my previous boat that you do not want to shift quickly from forward to reverse. If you're throttling forward, you need to cut neutral, count off in your head 2-3seconds, and then move to reverse. We burnt out our 2005 LSV's damper plate by doing that process with only a 1 second delay.

I don't know if this would be related to your problem.
