    Default clear error code

Got the boat out of storage and started it up. Immediately Diagnostic message came up “Sparkplug 8 primary open or short to ground”. Sure enough when I opened it up I could see that I hadn’t plugged it back in tightly after fogging the cylinders..... plugged it back in and all is good....expect the check engine light is on and won’t go out.

Is there a way to reset the check engine light?

Sometimes they clear themselves after a bit of running
Or at least that was the case on my son's Dart. Had a check engine light code for one of the air dam louvers being out of track. Had never even heard of such, but the code reader didn't lie. After snapping it back in place, it took a couple of hours for the check engine light to go back off.

I think the dealer has to clear it for you.
I have a low oil stuck in the screen from having the key in the wrong position while doing an oil change.

You should be able to reset that yourself from inside the error screens on the boat. I inadvertently did it myself while we were in a real low oil scenario as I was looking around in the controls to try to figure out what the pressure really was.
