Yup you’re almost better off not ordering any tow package but unfortunately they group things in such a way that if you want option X you also have to have option Y, Z and LMNOP.

In fact what I ordered they don’t technically make as a replacement for a factory tow equipped F150. What they make for that is an dual receiver that mounts below the factory receiver. It looks like an abomination IMO. So what I did was order a Curt hitch receiver for an F150 that did not come with factory tow option once I realized I could just cut the stupid brackets down to allow a proper mount to the frame, as it should be for this kind of weight. The factory “bumper” for an F150 is really nothing more than a bumper cap. The actual bumper is the brackets, well I guess a;so the factory tow hitch metal lol. It’s a joke so that is what I changed mine for better piece of mind.

    Default SL550 weight.

On the Gen14 F150 max tow package you get more than just a hitch and Brake controller.

The 9.75” 3/4 floating axle on the max tow is legit.

I have sworn never to discuss the Ford hitch again.

But the 21+ 3.5 TT max tow pulls a Fat SA (guessing 9000# ish) great and 10mpg isn’t awful at 80mph including the hills of Tennessee.

I should have emphasized my gen F150. I like the new trucks. Just can’t afford them

I know the hitch is a sore subjuct for you. Not trying to get into that conversation.

Just never seen under a new F150. Seeing it explains the ratings. As for the truck, nothing bad to say, just do not agree with Ford motive to make the limiting factor the hitch design.

Nothing has changed on the 2021+ hitch.

so far so good with my 2008 expy... its rated for 9k. wife wants me to upgrade, but i dont see a reason to other than for "looks"

i do agree about the surge tho.

i would bet the trailer weighs in at least 1500lb. my 2022 mojo trailer is 1200

I meant the difference between the previous dual axle to the triple axle trailer. I would guess the new triple is 2000lbs or so. It’s built much heavier than even the triple used in 2020. My old trailer used the 2” ball whereas this one is 2-5/16

Don't even get me started on the MTP when equipped with a powerboost! There isn't anyone who can definitively say what it includes and what it doesn't. I lurk and occasionally post on two Gen14 forums, and it's almost funny how much confusion there is. I know that's a convo for another day and a different audience though. I have a scheduled build date of 5/31 (ordered my F150 SCREW PB 12/24) and i went with the regular tow package because I got a lot of the MTP stuff with the engine upgrade. Like Hak alluded with regard to packaging, the MTP required me to go up to 20 inch wheels (that I didn't want or need) so it was in essence like 3 grand for a upgraded bumper and larger rear brakes.

Sorry for the rant, I know this is a boat forum
