    Default SL550 weight.

I finally got my 2022 sl550 to the weigh station today. I always like to find out exactly what I’m pulling so went to the local cat scale.
Boat currently has all my gear in it, full fuel and 1000lbs of lead.

Total weight was 10,120lbs, when attached to the truck it showed 820lbs of tongue weight and 9300lbs on the trailer. This is on the Supra triple axle trailer.

For comparisons sake I went to the same scale with my 2020 Sl450, same gear inside and same 1000lbs Of lead a couple years ago.
Total weight on it was 8840lbs when it was attached to the same truck it showed 8140lbs on the trailer and 700lbs of tongue weight. This was on the standard Supra dual axle trailer.

I thought this would be good info to share for anyone curious.
I tow this with a 20 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 3.0 duramax. Awesome towing vehicle and I average 10mpg running 75 on the interstate. The only mods done to the truck are rear air bags. I think they are a necessity. Truck is extremely stable towing

Good info on the actual weight. I want to take my SL to the local CAT scale too. All loaded up.

I'm surprised the 2020 to 2022 was 8.8K to 10.1K with appx the same lead, fuel, and gear. Maybe I was not up to date on the newer 2022 weights.

Your 2020 was probably listed as the same as my 2018 where the boat was 5.6K and the boat & trailer was 7.2k. Not counting any gear.

I’m just guessing that 500 lbs or so is trailer alone. They beefed up the the new trailers. Also this one has one extra axle as well. It doesn’t seem to tow any harder, I think the triple tows better as well

That was my next question. If you liked the triple vs double.

It really does track a lot better on the road. I don’t think you could safely tow this on a double axle with 18s. As the weight would overload the tires. I think you would have to get the base 15” trailer tires on a double to stay within limits.
I believe the builder even states no 18” wheels on a double for the sl or se

You are correct, 18’s on a dual axle maxes out at 9084#, if they are still using trailer king 225/75/15 that gets you to 10,160#

1300 lbs difference seems like a lot. I can see the axle wheels tires etc being 500 but where's the other 800 coming from?

My advice if you have a 1/2 ton tow vehicle and a relatively new wake boat....

Don't go to the scales. Ignorance is bliss. Ask me how I know
