Default Tower Gasket Replacement 2006 Moomba

Any idea as to what type of gasket to use for the buffer between the tower and the boat? I have tried this from amazon "TORRAMI Neoprene Rubber Sheet Roll 3/16" (.187") Thick x 12" Wide x 12" Long for DIY Gaskets, Pads, Seals, Crafts, Flooring, Cushioning of Anti-Vibration, Anti-Slip". I'm seeing the neoprene cracking and not looking that good and all it's been doing it sitting in my garage installed on the boat. Any help would be greatly appreciated and Thanks in advance. I can add some pictures later on this evening if needed.

Sounds like you just got some really cheap made neoprene if it's already cracking/dry rotting just sitting there. Maybe some old dated stock they sold you.

Yeah, that looks like cheap or old stuff. Or both.

I'd avoid neoprene and go to a rubber sheet.

Having a hard time finding a rubber sheet that does not involve neoprene. Any advice on where to find some. Thanks

You're right. Everything showed as neoprene. I found a site that explained the different types and I believe butyl rubber like in inner tubes is the winner.

This was a common problem with Moombas that had that particular tower, Even my 08 I got in 09 required me to replace them in 11. I just got a firm 1/4 rubber and cut them to match. Its not hard to install, remove the tower bolts, on one side, lift it and you can pull the old one out and use it as a template. Unfortunately I think Moomba used to thin a material and this is why they failed so much.
