What are you guys' water temps at? I'm always the dumb one that tends to be the only one on the water in the spring when we first go out, but hey...our boating season isn't overly long and so long as the air temp is nice & you don't spend much time in the water, I usually consider it worth it haha...but nothing like that initial jump in in the spring...just takes your breath away

Lake Martin is currently 58 degrees. Still a ways to go before I get in the water vs on the water.

Being where you are, you are probably going to think we are a bunch of pansies complaining about cold water. It was 62 degrees this past Saturday where I went out.

Not at all, I've learned that temperature is relative to what you're used to...even the same temp in the spring vs the fall feels very different...So I definitely won't be judging. Plus, I'm still youngish and dumb. So there's definitely that...If I was able to be on open water right now with the boat, I'd definitely be more picky about the water temp myself as well, but since our water probably isn't the warm until June, I make some questionable decisions on occasion out of desperation haha.

A wise person on this forum recommended a combined water and air temp of 130F as a good bogey for water sports.

    Seems fair.

Oooooo man! 70 degree day and 60 degree water. My nads just couldn't take that combo! Especially if the sun wasn't beaming good!

Remember to subtract wind at x 2 reported mph.

    (Air temp + water temp) - 2(wind mph) = 130

Or, buy a wetsuit. I’ve been in 50 degree water on 75 degree day, and rarely ever go out if wind is over 10 even on a hot day.

Wind over 10 just makes for a really choppy day.

I have 2 wind apps. If it's blowing hard, we're not going out. The forecast is usually about spot on as well to plan a few days in advance.
