    Default Prop question

Hit what I think was a log coming in tonight never saw anything and it was in a channel that I’ve come through dozens if not hundreds of times. There is a heavy vibration when I throttle now. Pretty sure I’ll need a new prop. I have a ‘19 Helix, looking for suggestions for the best surf prop.

can't help you on what prop to get but if you haven't thought of it already, get that one fixed and keep it as a spare.

Yes thanks for the suggestion. Maybe it’s not necessary to replace, I’ll see what the dealership says once they get it in the shop.

15x12.5 by OJ is great. Contact them. They will sell you a new prop and fix yours for free if it is repairable.

Don’t use nettles to fix your prop, they are overpriced.

What are the advantages of certain props from a surf perspective? Mostly better fuel efficiency?

Pitch is a trade off top speed and pulling power.

I could careless about top speed personally.

But for surfing at full weight, the lower the pitch the more pulling power, but if you lower pitch, it raises operating RPM.

If you can find a prop that pulls big weight and keeps rpm’s at 3400-3600, you are doing great.

as far as prop repair, most larger cities have places that will repair a nibral prop. personally, unless you need to do something else at the dealer, they are not hard to take off, get repaired and put back on again. it was $90 for my last repair but that was a minute ago. sure it's more like $150 today. dealer will likely charge labor to pull yours off and add a markup to the repair invoice so be cautious of that.
most local shops can fix a prop if dropped off on a monday, will have it back to you on friday based on my past experiences getting several repaired over the years. it's the dealership that can hold up the repair waiting for it to get into the shop.

I really like the acme 1235. great prop to surf with. had it on several boats and would buy it again in a heartbeat. nettles is one of the best places to order a new prop. good pricing and they can offer suggestions on what to swap over to based on your boat/engine/needs.

Nettles has great new prop prices, just awful repair prices even with a $50 coupon and no quote until you ship it there. It is a scam for repair.
