    Default Towing a Supra SA400

The trailer and boat weight of a 2019 SA seems to be 7050 lbs.
A Range Rover sport towing max is 7600lbs.

Is that to close to the max?
Have any of you towed your boat with a ranger rover sport, if so how was it?

How far are you towing? How frequent? What kind of terrain?

Long trips - Probably not going to be happy
Once a week, 10 miles to the lake - no problem.

Mountain passes and steep boat ramps will be your worst enemy.

Remember 7050Lbs is not full of gear, lead, coolers, etc. Also I had ~200#of water in my ballast after my last lake trip that I did not even know was there until I winterized yesterday.

Good point- I was surprised at the amount of water left in the ballast system..(not sure how you determined it was 200 lbs).

My 20 sl450 weighed 9050 lbs full of fuel and with 900lbs lead scattered throughout. 700lbs was the tongue weight with a tandem axle trailer. I pulled it 5000 miles this summer with a 20 gmc1500 with the 3.0 Duramax. Max towing weight is 9300lbs with my truck. I had zero issues running 80ish on the interstate.
I’d say you should be fine if your not hauling any lead.

I'd take a look at the hitch on that vehicle as well. The max towing capacity of the vehicle isn't always going to match the tongue weight capacity of the hitch. There's usually some kind of sticker on the hitch showing the capacity of that.

For heavy boats and steep or slippery ramps, 4x4 is necessary in my book.

Huge risk with 2wd on a boat ramp. Once it starts sliding, not much you can do to stop it unless you are in the truck.

I initially towed ours with a Jeep GC SRT. Capacity similar to your Rover.

Jeeps power was fine. No major complaints. However, I did not like it one bit. I felt every nudge and was scared to go above 45. I felt like if I made a small mistake the boat and trailer would take me with.

Decided on a ½ ton truck I got used with a lot of miles just for towing and it’s night and day difference.

Wife and I are considering a ¾ next season and sell my jeep and truck.
