Default How big are your Kahunas????

Figured I would ask the infamous question and see where it takes us.

I'm in Ohio. The weather is crap at the moment and the high temp today was 67 @ 6am and dropping to 56 throughout today. Weekend looks to be highs in mid 70's and overnight lows in low 50's. Water temps are going to drop quickly, was at 76* last weekend from 85* earlier this summer.

So how long to wait before biting the proverbial bullet and winterizing? Do I stick it out and buy a wetsuit to extend the season?

Just do not want summer to end yet!!!

Buy a Suit! I love how quiet the lake is this time of year and makes for great surf sessions. We had the best sessions of the year last weekend.

I am done when water temp drop below 70f, my kid has a shorty wet suit and will surf with water temps to 60f.

We will still cruise and enjoy a few beverages on a nice fall day watching the fall colors.

Heated seats, heater and windshield closed and bow divider in is rather comfy.

I winterize when overnight temps get into the 30’s.

in colder climates we lived in, typically when air temps drop below 70 we stop. 65deg on the driveway seems a whole lot colder than 65deg on the lake.
water temps in boise never went above the mid-upper 60's even in late summer. we used wetsuits down to high50's. lower than that we pass.
wetsuits make cold water bearable and as mentioned, typically only the hardcore out in suits so lakes are pretty nice.

now here in vegas, we boated up until mid november with air temps in the 70's and water the same. we had to stop due to layups from the insurance.

And that would work if the air temps were 80+

I technically use 130f combo of air and water.

Just more anxious in the spring then the fall.

I drive more than surf so I am still having fun with the kid surfing away

By this standard, it is 57* air temp right now and water is listed at 73* online at my local lake.....you would have more balls than me to go out today....LMAO

My son and I wake boarded behind the jetski last November When we had a couple of 70゚ days. I can't remember what the water temperature was but mid fifties, LOL. If you're gonna buy a wet suit buy a 3 mm semi dry suit. These are most versatile.
