This may be a ridiculous question, do you need to use an extractor when using the drain hose. Is it connected to the bottom of the pan?

You don’t need an extractor but it helps immensely.
If the oil is cold and you open the drain hose, it won’t come out.
If the oil is warm/hot, it wil slowly drain out but will take a long time.
Warm oil and extractor and it takes 1-3 minutes to fully drain. There is 8 qts.
Yes, the hose is attached to the drain plug on the oil pan.

When I first bought a wake boat, I did not have an extractor. It was easy to drain if you hooked up the hose right after use when the motor was good and hot. If the motor is cold, it’s a no-go.
I live 5 mins to the boat ramp, so I would use the boat that day, pull in the driveway that night, and hook up the drain hose.
Most of the oil was drained in 15-30 mins. It’s slow compared to the extractor. I would leave it overnight, come out the next am, finish the filter and refill, and back on the lake.
After my first year I was bored one fall day so I made a 12v extractor from Northern Tool $30-35 Pump mounted on bucket. Works well, pretty simple. Otherwise, I would have bought one to get it all done at one time.
