Default Looking for a wake shaper.

Buddy of mine just got into boating. He picked up a 2008 Mastercraft X2 for cheap. Ballast pumps were all upgraded but stock ballast. He tried surfing it this weekend. It made a wave but nothing worth it. Not enough weight to list correctly.

He plans on doing the ballast but a suck gate is a quick fix for another month of boating before it gets too cold.

Need recommendations and if anyone is looking to unload one.

Nauticurl Slim is a good choice.

He could quickly make a DIY suck gate from a glass suction cup lifter handle that can be had for under $20, 2x8 wood and and 6x 3-1/4 decking screws.

Someone had a post on here about a homemade one and how they did it. I remember seeing it a month or so ago.

The DIY method is out. I don't want to build it for him and he well.........can't.

The other issue with the older X2 is the area to place the unit, 2in2out hit it right. It has to be slim and small to just catch the bottom flat edge of the hull.
I have been looking all morning for his boat specifically and found this info out.
Swell makes a slim version also. Looks like 2 choices and $300.....he has to pay to play like the rest of us.

I bought a NaughtiCurl after a couple of rides in our first boat. Then, I bought a Swell off Craigslist. Sold both for half the price I bought. Decent investments overall.

    I'm local and have a Swell 2.0 I'd sell for $100.
