Default Fins for a HL Landlock

What would be some better fins for a 2020 HL Landlock that would give some better push for my big butt?

Also, same fin question for a Connelly Ride?

Have you tried removing the outer 2 fins leaving the centre one in?
We did that and found it moved along nicely, we use the large surface and dig an edge in when we need to move the board around as in cut up down the face of the wave.
Maybe worth a try, just don't loose the removed fins or screws.

I haven't, but will give that a shot. I ordered some 2.4" to go on the outside. That is the same as the rear. Current sides are only 1.4".

I did the same as BJ and the board livened up a little.

By "likened up", do you mean felt better push for heavy people?

Yes, but it was minimal. Removing the side fins gave it more “play” so I could get into the wave to get more push.

As a bigger guy myself, or, well, a bowling ball, butterball, what have you, I know the struggle with push. The Landlock, is a cruiser board, and it likes to be in the pocket and nowhere else, unless you are under 200, but then you have to work to make it do things.

The main benefit to the Landlock is that it is a stable board anyone can get up on and learn the pocket. It’s forgiving in that extent.

Completely agree with 2in2out with what I found.
I'm 240ish lb so bring on the jokes.....
With the two outer removed it was just enough to get going without the rope.
It's nice to have to stooge around on and not have the muscles fry in a couple of minutes.
We have a Ronix potbelly board and while much fun the leg burn comes in quick.
Looks of people passing by while on the HL just chillin is priceless....

Forgot to mention, this was with the Mondo manual flow with stock ballast.
We've since upgraded the bags a little and bought some lead and the orig fins are back in the HL, I mainly use the Ronix and the HL used for newbies and myself later in the day when the burn has subsided!

Oh I'm a solid 240 as well, thus my original desire for more push. We have a 4-7 shim and my 3 kids from 130-180 and most of their friends have no problem. I think my wave is pretty good with stock ballast and a large crew. Ole dad just need that little extra something to make things easier. I can drop the rope on the landlock as is, but yep that leg burn sets in a bit faster for me. And finding the sweet spot isn't right away for me like it is for them. I have a Connelly Ride that isn't too bad for a learning board we use before putting kids on the shim.

I've tried removing all 3 fins, while faster still it became a bit too slippery sideways for my skill level at the time.
Now with all back in and the extra weight in the boat it's a pretty easy ride. I am not at the stage of doing 360s and ollies and probably never will be but I enjoy just being out like most of us. If I get things right on the Ronix I'm generally back foot braking it most of the time so as I dont hit the back of the boat, probably a result of having to get forward on the HL to get it going....I'm a slow learner there.
