Default *** 05 Moomba XLV GG Renovation ***

    Moomba Lovers,

We purchased this amazing boat at the end of the 2020 season. It was in extremely great shape, around 500 hrs, no tears or rips in any of the upholstery, mechanically sound, no leaks or cracks in the hull, and all gauges worked. So, all in all, pretty dang good shape for a 15 year old boat.

Since then, I have been meticulously going through everything and making some huge improvements along the way. Here is a list of what I've done, along with some pics. Please enjoy...

    1. Removed all stickers
    2. Wet sanded, buffed, polished, and graphene / ceramic coated inside and out
    3. Made 21 templates for Aqua Marine Decking (EVA Foam): This is a local company here in GA near Lake Lanier
    4. Removed floor panels, pressure washed, and detailed underneath floor panels.
    5. Went through every single wire connection and added dielectric grease to each connector.
    6. Removed old carpet from floor panels, sanded, and gel coated white
    7. Installed 21 panels of Custom Aqua Marine Decking for both the boat and trailer (if you need templates for your entire XLV, they are now available)
    8. Installed a Garmin 73SV for a quality GPS and depth monitoring. I occasionally go to a very shallow lake, and I didn't want to take any chances.
    9. Built a custom swim platform using 3/4" HDPE. I had to double the layers to provide enough strength. What a pain that was.
    10. Built a custom FAE. Works flawlessly!!!!
    11. New ACME 1433 prop
    12. New Dexter torsion axle
    13. New Surge Brake Insert (my piston was busted, master cylinder was full of mud, and there was no emergency cable)
    14. 1140 lb bags rear locker
    15. 800 lb center
    16. New gas pistons for rear deck lid supports.
    17. Re routed both batteries and both amps along with associated wiring.

Very nice! Interested to hear your thoughts/opinion on the garmin. I’ve been considering something like that primarily to aid in nighttime navigation on our lake. Currently using a cellphone with navionics app which works fine, but the screen is a little small IMO.

    Thank you very much!!

I was apprehensive at first. Seeing how no one really puts something like this in a “wakeboard” boat.

I was originally looking at a 3 or 5” version. I found a 50% off sale on this one, so it made for an easier decision. I’m glad I went with the larger screen. Yes, it is kind of in the way when I don’t have the seat raised. I’m pretty short though. Plus, my kids love seeing the large map and looking for fish. Lol

All in all, I’m extremely happy with it, and would recommend one.

50% off is a steal, I know how expensive those are which is why I’m apprehensive. Thank you for the review, I might put one on my Santa list lol

Yes sir!! Lol. It was a cyber Monday sale last year.

It’s my pleasure. I’ll take a couple pictures with it powered up and show you how it really looks.
