Fuel gauges works but reads wrong

On my 2011 xlv, the gauges in the with mph gauge, and when full its way past the full mark and empty is about half a tank, what I wondering is if the gauge is faulty, cause obviously the sending unit is doing its job. Any help would be appreciated

Try troubleshooting the sender first since that’s easier than those combined gauges.
