Default 2021 Mojo vs 2021 Makai

I have demoed a number of different makes and decided that we are going the Moomba route. The trouble we are having is deciding either the Mojo or Makai. I've gotten a ton of great info from a number of the threads here, but I'm looking for your experience to compare these two boats.

We are a family of 5 and taking family out, we will regularly be 8-11 people. We are beginner surfers and wakeboards and love it, hence the upgrade to a new boat.

When I option out the 2 boats, the Makai is about $5600 more, which is really for the extra length and the Pro tower.
I like the removeable port filler cushion arrangement and the anchor locker on the Mojo.
I like all of the extra space in the bow and cabin area on the Makai including that the rear facing seat can come up under the bimini.
Mojo is available now and Makai would be June and I don't have any specific size limitations.

Is SC good at hitting their delivery dates?
Will wave performance be significantly different between the two? I assume that I'll likely need to add more lead to the Makai just because of a larger surface area.

Why would you choose one versus the other?

Thanks for the help!!! I'm struggling with the decision.

    My only input is.....

1)SC is very close to its delivery schedule.
    2)Mojo is the newest model.
3)If 11 is your norm, get the Makai

Regarding the 5600$ difference, 3500$ is the pro tower which you can get with the Mojo so really difference is only about 2K$ between the two. Now, are they both built with the 3.0 surf tabs? I personally like to Mojo for better portability if you tow, otherwise, if you own a lake home then the Makai would offer more room. Otherwise equally equipped you're paying 2K$ for an extra foot of space, they even look similar in design. Question is whether the extra weight in the Makai benefits from the larger 450 engine for comparable performance. The Mojo has been fine with the 400 on previous models. That may be a significant differentiator if you have to spend the extra 7600$ to achieve similar performance. Maybe someone here with a Makai can chimed in on that issue.

Both of the options were configured with surf 3.0 (interesting that it's a higher cost upgrade to this for the Mojo than it is for the Makai).
The lakes that we are normally in are 1700ft and less. Definitely interested to know if the 400 is proving to be enough for current Makai owners.

If the 400 can happily push an SA or SL, I’m sure it will do fine.

Didn’t the Makai Wake9 crew tested a 400? That was at Norris, so not much difference elevation wise.

    400/1.76 goes a long way.

Yes, agree. The Makai will do fine with the 400, with the optional 15" pitch prop. So I guess it comes down to will you be towing or not and if yes, does the extra weight/length matter to you, what rig you are using to tow.
Otherwise, to me, they look like very similar boats, different gel coat scheme. The Makai has a wider bow though, but on profile, the Mojo seems like a shortened version of Makai. Maybe its just me though. Doesn't matter, they're both awesome boats.

The Makai feels a lot bigger in the area behind the tower when you have people on the boat.

I think most all of the Moomba reviews by Wake9 have been on the 400 motors.

Good looking goofy wave around the 4:45 mark. Haha.

Thanks for all the input! I think I'm going to go down the Makai route with a 400 and the 15 prop. Taking a risk on the delivery date so that we don't miss the majority of the summer, but we get to option out like we want and get the added features & space of the Makai.

Can’t wait to see it. Make sure you post config pics and finished pics.
