I used to do that stuff in my ‘84 Nissan p/u when I was in high school 30 years ago. After my 3rd set of motor mounts and 2nd front end rebuild, the price for that kind of jackassery the delta between fun and work wasn’t so good.

It will be interesting what Toyota brings to the table, huge ground to make up against the new F150 and Ram. Actually shocked Toyota is staying in the full size light duty market. They barely sell 100k per year compared to even 3rd place Ram at 568k and F150 even on the previous generation 2020 model at over 900k

GM knows they F’d up the interior of their new generation trucks, it truly is subpar. They are RAPIDLY redesigning the interior to try and catch up to Ford and Ram for MY2022.

MY2021 automotive sakes will be interesting due the massive semiconductor shortage caused by video “gamers” during the pandemic.

Auto manufacturers have to nearly stop production until the semiconductor makers can’t catch up with demand.

Toyota needs to up their game, but they also have a niche market. Toyota owners are fairly loyal. What sells the Tundra besides the “manufactured in the US” BS is the price point that is $20k less than the others.

I hate the gas mileage mine gets. It truly sucks this day and age. But I also like that it didn’t cost $81k like the F150 I wanted. I love the F150 and the Rams, they drive like dreams, but I couldn’t get into one less than $65k at the time.

Plus my 1794 tundra interior and exterior match my boat so it was meant to be. I get lots of comments at each gas station I can’t pass while towing the boat.

I think it actually means something about the land where the tundra plant is built was a ranch founded in 1794.

I think you might want to revisit that 20k statement.
basic 4x4's with no options and toyota is the cheapest by a grand. keeping in mind this is msrp before any "discounts" and I would bet the big3 will offer more incentives than toyota. toyota historically doesn't discount as much as american builders.

now your example about ford/rams touching 65k. absolutely and the big3 are offering much more in terms of add-on's than toyota to push the price up there(think king ranch). compare an apples to apples optioned up truck AFTER discounts and it's not going to be a 20k spread.

toyota has a nice niche for tundras but even with a redesign or some groundbreaking new tech, they will not ever be in the same camp as the big3. tundra has kinda been the fat kid in the corner as they have spent all their truck research $$ on the taco making in the #1 midsize truck and has been for years.....

1794 is most certainly NOT the date of Texas Independence. That would be March 2, 1836.

I think the ranch theory may be more accurate.

My mistake. That was what my wife was told by the sales associate when she asked. I didn't care, I never investigated the label just the features and options. But proven again I am a fool because I took someone's word. I wanted the Platinum, but the wife card got pulled and thrown on the table, so I got a 1794 for 4k less than the platinum I wanted because it had been on the lot for 4 weeks. A least it had cooled seats. Didn't help my wife is a Texan, so I had no say in the matter. Even though its my daily driver, its her truck. I plan to take the 1794 emblems off because I think they detract from the look.

One problem with the 1794 and Platinum trims, unlike the TRD trims, is to make them look good you're into wheels, tires, and lift and leveling components. Otherwise they are low clearance pavement queens that suck gas.

Cute truck. I see a Raptor off road as much as I see an Outback pulling surfers. Ford has a much better vehicle suited for off road.

Watch Rip to Cabo on ESPN World of X Games. They use Raptors as chase trucks in some pretty rough conditions. They appear to be stock, but I can’t say that for sure. I think they are pretty badass, but damn, do something with those ugly ass 17” rims!
