Stiff Throttle
Just got the Mojo out for the first run of the year and I noticed that the throttle is considerably stiffer going from drive to neutral than it was when I put it away. Anyone experienced this? I am assuming it is the cable linkage and it may need to be lubricated

I wonder if there is an adjustment that can be made. I test drove a max with a throttle that was so loose it would drop down a bit after hitting a bump and the boat would accelerate if the cruise was not on.

Kent, is the thruster option on your boat “fly by wire” or cable?

That was my assumption as well given the ergos it operates under.

It’s not the throttle itself that’s stiff and I’m pretty sure the throttle drive by wire and doesn’t have an actual cable. It’s the shift from drive to neutral and neutral to reverse that is stiff all off the sudden and I think that is still a cable linkage. Once in gear it’s smooth as it has always been.

Remove the cable from the transmission and see if the stiffness goes away.

So apparently when I winterized it I ran the exhaust cooling hose OVER the shift linkage. Moving it under the shift linkage made the throttle butter smooth again.
