Default Flag Buddy Discount for Moomba Members

Not sure if any of you have one of these but I did for years - lost it, flew out on the road this summer - and I really missed it so I got another one.

I contacted Mike Buchner the inventor and owner of the company and he has offered a 10% discount for any members on the forum who are interested. Use the code "flag buddy".

All too often my observers are more interested in observing their phones, drinks, gossip or whatever than the rider. Or someone is sitting on the flag so no one can find it when the rider goes down. This little gem solves that problem. I usually had mine mounted on the windshield frame right behind me so I could just reach back and flip it up without having to bark out orders to my "non-observers". Then flip it back down inside a little so it didn't flap in the wind.

It also works great if you are just floating and swimming to have the flag up and visible vs having it stuck in a wakeboard rack or something where it could come loose, flag hits the water and bye bye. You can also pull the flag from the mount and hold it by hand if needed by just loosening the clamp.

http://flagbuddy.com Check it out and thank you Mike for working a deal for us!

So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

we got scolded in idaho for using a similar invention that came out of a tube on the tower and slid up/down.
cop stated law was written that someone had to hold the flag.
overzealous cop = yes but one more reason for them to board and search.

I think it's a good idea and better than the alternative you mention but depending on the state/officers........

I have heard similar laws around here however I've been close enough to the coast guard, a few different sheriffs, fish and wildlife and the local city Bayliner bikini patrol while using the Flag Buddy and not one of them has said "nope". They probably figure its better than no flag at all. Unless like you said, you get that over zealous green horn out to prove himself.

Ive never used one. Texas doesn't require it, but supposedly our lake does. IDK. I've actually been stopped while surfing, and nothing was said. Itd prob be smart to use one regardless tho.

One of those over zealous green horns deputy whiskey throttled the Sheriff’s boat into the side of my coworkers boat when stopping to chastise them for not having a flag up while swimming anchored in a cove. Knocked his wife off the boat and his son nearly got hit. Their first day with the boat in the water. Didn’t even have tag numbers on it yet.

The Sheriff himself personally saw to it that their boat was repaired to as good as new.

We all use flags when swimming off our boats now.

I heard conroe did away with that requirement. Something worth looking into.
