    Default GoPro/Cam Tower Mount

I’m thinking about picking up a knockoff GoPro to start filming myself surfing in hopes that analyzing it will help me improve at airs/360’s/etc. My wife used to take cell phone vids while a friend drove the boat but now that we changed lakes it’s mostly just her driving.

I assume mounting it to the tower would provide the most helpful footage in critiquing my riding?

Is there a mount you guys have had success with on an aviator tower?

Any other suggestions for an action cam newb?

    Thanks

The tower and the grab handle on the back of the boat are my go to mounting places. Scosche makes good mounts for the tower.
I would go with the GoPro Max. Worth the money and you can move the footage around in a 360 once its taken.

The biggest problem with the tower mount is the size of the tube. The velcro wrist strap works great, but it eventually tore. The tower clamp below has worked the best so far.

This is perfect for the Max tower. I mount it onto the post with the light behind the tow point using an adapter to make it work on the vertical post instead of the horizontal tower.

I bought GoPro suction and surfboard mounts as well as the large tube one for the tower. I really like the suction one, hasn’t fallen off yet. I added some pool noodle foam to the arm portion so it would float.

I have the hero 7 but I find Apple iPhone 11 videos look way better - that being said, it is easier to use the go pro rather than having someone film the run w the phone. Also I find the go pro app is a little glitchy and dealing with uploading/ sending the media is a bit of a pain. I mount the go pro on the tower and use the sticky pad it came with it hadn’t fallen off so far after a few weeks.

I use filmora9 for all my video editing. Its really easy to use. $69 for a lifetime subscription, and they still add updates to it. There are lots of instructional videos too.
