Default New 2020 Moomba Kaiyen Owner

    Hi All,

We are picking up a 2020 Kaiyen on Tuesday and are very excited to do some boating, tubing with the kids and lots of surfing. My friend has a 2017(maybe 2017) MC NXT20 and we never found the wave to be great. After doing some research online I saw a review on the Makai being an amazing boat and that Moomba had launched the Kaiyen as a followup. At 21' 5" I think it should be perfect for our family of 4 with space to bring along some friends.

I am a long time kitesurfer and I am pumped to get better at wake surfing with my family in the years to come.

I do have one misgiving. It comes with the Flow 2 surf system and if I had ordered it I would have added the Flow 3 for sure... However, this was the only one our dealer had and we wanted to get going and enjoy the rest of summer. It is still a very nice wave but I am already thinking if it is possible to add on the Flow 3 after the fact..

Congrats. Post pics when u get it. We love to gawk at boats here. The Kaiyen, with 3700lbs ballast stock should put out a decent wave, but, pound for pound, if you find the wave needs help, spend your money and time on extra ballast. Consider 4-500 lbs lead bags distributed with some bias towards the back, and it conserves storage space. Enjoy the new ride.

The Flow 3 wont give you some magical monster wave, so don’t sweat it. Take $500 and buy 500lb of lead weight and it will be a better investment in the wave

Thanks for the reply and info regarding the wave. So you are suggesting 2000 lbs of additional weight? in the wake 9 videos I see he added only 500lb.. I don't mind spending on weight if it just requires adding some poundage.

I will definitely post the pics!

Oh no, sorry, meant 400-500lbs extra weight in the form of lead bags, at about 50# each, about 8-10 bags. They're relatively small in size so you should be able to tuck them away discretely. I bought some from my dealer at 20% off since I bought a new boat. Talk to your dealer for a discount, sometimes they sell them.

You will LOVE this boat and the wave it can put out. A little extra weight will be nice, especially if you get it in the right places. Learning and using Autowake will give you all the info you need where to put it. The tool that really sets Skiers Choice away from anybody else and it seems nobody really uses it. Talked with 3 local Moomba/Supra owners recently and none has ever used the AW and really didn't know about it. It's a frustrating learning curve BUT once you figure it out, it's more than amazing, especially with lead to assist AW.
