Default 2005 LSV Starts then dies when put in gear

Yesterday on the water took boat out surfed for 2-3 hours straight then took the boat into a cove to take a swim. When we got back on the boat to go, ran the blower then cranked the engine. Started fine and then boats RPMs went to around 8-900 rpms then idled to normal speed. When I put it in gear and gave it fuel past idle it would choke out and die. Did this 2-3 times.
Was able to get the boat to the marina at idle speed. Lifted the engine compartment while doing so.

Boat sat for 10 minutes at dock before I started it up and loaded it. Boat started and ran fine at idle like it always does got it to the trailer and had to give it some throttle to get it up on it and it made it up on the trailer. Did not try to take it down the lake with a crew full of friends and a crowded lake.

Any thought on what this could have been?
Maybe Vapor lock, fuel filter, restricted airflow etc?

    Thanks for your suggestions!!

^^. Vapor lock. Cold water on the fuel pump and lines. Wait a couple of minutes and fire it up.
