    Default Makai factory ballast distribution

Does anybody know how the Makai's 4000 pounds of factory ballast is distributed (how much in each of the starboard and port rear bags and how much in the bow tank)?

Basically, I am trying to understand how much net ballast the WakeMaker upgrades would add in net weight and where the extra weight would be (both the rear 1300 pound upgrades and the various bow piggy back bags).

Also, how much storage is lost and does the helm display automatically adjust to properly display the % full of the WakeMaker upgrades/additions?

Trying to decide if these upgrades are worth the investment.

    Thanks in advance.

    JSB,
I’m sure Dakota will also respond but, I’ll do my best to answer your questions. I can’t stress this enough, you will want the extra weight. I’ve loaded mine up and every time I add weight the wave gets better. The Makai is a beast and can handle whatever you throw at her!

    1) 5 tanks/ bags in the Makai. Two rear, two mid, one bow. I had to add 200# of lead to the bow to get pitches angles I wanted.

    2) Rear storage is basically eliminated. You will have to remove the bins in the back.

    3) You will have to adjust the timers to get proper fills. Super easy, everything else works fine.

You are going to love the Makai! Post pics when you take delivery. Congratulations.

WM kit will net you 600Lbs in the rear only, taking the space of your bins as pictured above. I think you might have to adjust the height of the sensors on the rear bags to go along with the timers, if I remember the write up posted before which looked pretty easy to do.

All of what has been said is dead on based on what I did. I did not miss the rear bins in the least.

Height senors? I was unaware the Makai had those. Maybe not on the 2019?......

Thanks, everybody, especially for the photos, Robo_Fighter. Very helpful.

So, did you add the 200# of lead in the bow in addition to the Wakemaker extra bow bag or instead of it?

It indeed does. Mine (2019) needed a raise to fill the new bags properly. Was pretty simple. Behind the panels at rear of lockers.

Just the lead in the bow. Nothing else up front.
