I want to try to get my GSD (German Shepherd Dog) on the Mojo. We bought it used, but wife is saying NO EFFING WAY, he will damage the vinyl and the swim platform. I figured lots of towels and short cut nails to help with vinyl, but how do I get him in the boat after swimming? 100lbs of wet dog is hard to pickup if he cannot climb back in on his own. I can sink the rear while we swim, just curious how others do it with large breeds.

Kids and people do more damage to my vinyl than our dog...lol I fill the rear bags and sink the platform and she can swim right on. Also get a good dog life vest with a handle, mine loves to just float around and I use the handle often.

    Good to know.
He is only 3 so he should be able to get himself out. I was thinking just fill everything (or leave filled) and cruise to swim area.

    See what happens I guess.
    Thanks

We took our pup out for the first time back in Jan. We went for a low key cruise out to the cove for lunch and to relax. It was a random 90deg day in Jan we had to take the boat out. Right? It would have been boat abuse otherwise. I was a total basket case going into it. Trimmed and filed nails night before, lots of extra towels, visions of shredded seats. It turned out just fine and we actually ended up enjoying having him out there with us.

Don't forget to get him on the shore to do business. Don't aske me how I know.....

My boy in his first ride in the 1yr old boat jumped in after me when I fell surfing. Scratched the gel on the lift off, and he freaked when wifey turned the boat around to get us. Two more scratches on the side gel trying to scramble in before I got him to the swim deck. Now he won’t get in the water.

Unfortunate incident, and I don’t blame him, and it felt wonderful that he would jump in to save me.

Haha, great story. Should be able to buff those out no problem. I had a guy buff out a pretty deep scuff on the side of my moomba, BMF, looked showroom afterwards.

    My big guy is ready.
Having him wear it around the house so he can get a little used to it being around him.
Hoping the handle last while dragging him up the platform.

I also have two purebred dogs; one is a Bernese Mountain and the other a miniature beagle. They are very different, but both are equally affectionate and good-natured. The first boat trips were more stressful for them, in fact, just like their first car trip. I needed some training to get them used to these outings. It was easier for me with Spike. I don’t know, maybe it’s got something to do with the beagle dog breed profile. Are they more aquatic-oriented? Jonesey took some effort, though. He gets stressed by the sound of the engine.
