Took a few trips for ours to get used to it, but now she likes it.

I realize this is a completely valid question, but I find it interesting as it looks like you have no problem with fishing on your boat...between the hooks, dorsal fins, & the slime...that's one thing I won't be doing on my boat even though I enjoy fishing. Seems like the hooks alone would garner more of a risk to your boat than your dogs nails...on the flip side, we have a mini aussy & we just leave her home. She does fine in the boat, but it's too big of a pain to get the fur out of the carpet for us.

My youngest son fishes off our boat, I dont have a problem with hooks and slime. I just un hook em over the side so they dont fall in theboat. The worst for me was when we took my dog he peed in the boat. He had never been in a boat before and just didnt know what to do. Gave me a good excuse to pull the carpets and give them a scrub.

Dogs in the boat
Having said that, we have had our Jack Russell in the boat, but not normally.

What my above was referring too, that didn't post for some reason, is we do not fish from my wakesurfing boat. Interior is not designed for it. Fishing boats, even the 6 plus figure ones, are designed to handle stray hooks, bait, flopping fish, and whatever "slime " that is mentioned without harming them. And be easily cleaned of the aforementioned without too much difficulty. Each boat for its purpose!

My kids and their friends aren’t even allowed to fish off the dock when the boats are tied to it. As far as dogs on my boats? Nope, not ever.

Isn't it a bit dangerous because of the engine on the boat to release the dog like that?

My girl loves it as much as we do.
The trick can be keeping her IN the boat...
I'm used to cleaning up golden red hair everywhere else so the boat is not really any different. So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

I practically raised our 90lb Black Lab on the boat, I keep towels on the back seat, seat behind the driver and observer. He mostly uses the back seat, we also have always kept a custom made towel on the swim deck, partly for the dog and partly for people because this area is very slippery when wet.
13 Mojo and 9 summers no tears from the Lab. I do have to clean the bilge pump ever few months from shedding LOL. I normally just wash the floor down then clean the bilge.
Unfortunately our boy is 12 and really slowing down, I hope he gets to enjoy the boat another summer.Malo <--- Means--Evil or Mean One. This explains a lot.
