Anyone know what kind of hydraulic shock thing to put in the port side dry compartment where the stereo is? Mine came with the standard spring that you do a karate chop on to get it to close and I was just wanting to upgrade it to a shock.

For a glove box, a spring strut would be all that is necessary. They are used for cabinet doors in motor homes. Gas struts are used for heavier doors. A new design still requires some measurements to get the right one. Web sites have that information.

Loosen up the spring mounting point a little so it will pivot and you can avoid the karate chop. Mine never had a problem until I took it apart and put it back together too tight. Loosen up -fixed.
