Auxilary jack for mp3 player
I have a 05 Outback with a Kenwoood CD stereo, not sure of the model ,and I am unable to get to boat till spring.I am wondering if it has an aux jack to plug mp3 player into.If it does it must be on the back of the stereo as there is no jack on the face plate anywhere ,so if anyone knows could you please update me.

There are a number of adapters that plug into the cd changer port. Crutchfield has a few of them. You can either order a mini pluig cable or the dual RCA cable.

I have been trying to decide how to install an ipod in my boat.
I came accross this on Best Buy's site:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1153337431291
Looks like a pretty good option. Provides power and rca input. this would require the Kenwood Aux input. It is $99.00 just another option.
Also, I saw in my local Bass Pro the other day an option in the marine audio section that converts the Ipod mini to RCA. It has a neat mount. I can't find it on Basspro.com . Check a store if you have one near.

Or you could just put an mp3 head unit in. Adapters have never quite lived up to my expectaions, nor do they seem to last very long, and seemed to be prone to getting misplaced or lost

The OmniDock - the one from BestBuy - does NOT have a pair of RCA INPUTS - those are OUTPUTS. That is how the audio gets to the system. This requires a head unit with a pair of RCA inputs... were it that simple - then we would not all need adapters! That is more for going to an amp directly.
The PXA05 is a good device that acts like the pair of adapters I reccomend and has the ability to charge. This is an obnvious improvement over the adapters only. We take the ipod off if we ever need too, and then and plug in the cig charger. It had never been a problem, but for those times you go out with low charge, I can see the need to have it.
Peripheral Electronics is a great company.

I personally recommend going wireless with an I-Trip. It plugs onto the I-Pod and sends an FM radio signal to your receiver. You can select amongst many stations to find one that does not have interference in your area. I use it for the boat, the car, when friends have a party and you want to share tunes, traveling, etc. It sells for about 30 bucks.

I currently have a TuneBase FM that plugs in Cig lighter and sends and FM signal. I am looking for a cleaner input into the stereo for better audio. Used it yesterday as a matter of fact...
JoeTechie, thanks for the feedback as well.
I'll figure something out soon before summer gets rollin.
