    Default Wake boat accident

    https://www.bozsh.com/News/Shark-Tan...wo-people.html

Terrible situation, but curious what wake boat this is.

Looks like a Malibu m235 with a fxone tower on it.

    Yikes. Horrible loss of life.

Probably will take some time for the authorities to sort it out, finger-pointing back/forth, criminal charges for someone, then the lawsuits will start to fly.

saw that yesterday. sad day for anyone to lose a life while on the water.
agree with MH that this will not end for years and knowing shark tank guy has deep pockets, someone will be looking for a payday even if shark tank guy was not at fault and cleared of any owness.

on a related and much less serious note.....
looking at the pics in the news story, that woman is "wakeboarding" awfully close to the boat and forgot her rope

Is it legal to go high speed or even on plane at night?

That's how they do it Canada. Usually they stand on toboggans.

Here is a case going on that went from a tragic accident to a criminal case as some people weren't truthful with police. If an accident occurs, people have to accept the consequences and it helps to cooperate with authorities. Our dive rescue team used a newly acquired sonar in locating the victims.

Another issue that could cause a similar accident that occurred in Canada is the use of green, red or blue LEDs that are visible from other boats. In particular, the green LEDs as a boater seeing green are to stay the course (stand on) and not deviate unless it is obvious a collision is imminent. Having green LEDs visible on the port side can really mess up other boaters at night as they may not change course when they see green. That is why the use of certain color lights are prohibited except for navigation. My 2 cents. Stay safe this weekend.

Totally legal in WA and OR. I've gone 25mph plenty of times at night on the Columbia and Willamette rivers. That's what Nav lights are for, so you can see the other vessels.
