    Default How bad is the damage

    Anyone have an idea of damage and what it should cost to fix. My first time hitting a sand/rock bar. 2005 LSV Sorry can’t pic straight

    You should be able to rotate the pic on your phone and then post it on imgur or another host so we can see full size. Too hard to tell from that pic.

    I’m in Texas, sure hope I can find someone closer. I’m not looking forward to finding out how expensive this repair will be.

    That's doesn't look TOOOO awfully bad. The strut will need to be removed and straightened or replaced. The shaft will need to be checked and probably replaced. Doesn;t look like there is any fiberglass damage, but obviously you'll want to check that out. Then all o fit gets re-aligned when it goes back together. I assume the prop is toast too, so time for an upgrade! From other's posts it sounds like struts and shafts are in short supply due to Covid shutdowns and the related increase in demand for new boats. You're probably in more trouble because of TIME than you are money. This is a $2000 hit if you're paying someone - $1000 in parts. Any inboard shop can take care of you, or you can go to skidim.com or bakes.com and start looking for parts yourself. I'd recommend calling Richard at Discount inboard Marine (skidim.com) if you want to do it yourself.

    Looks like anew strut is in order, probably 500-700 for the strut, new prop another 5-700 + labor probably 5-6 hours depending on how difficult it is to get to the strut bolts on your boat, some are easy enough some require the engine to be at least lifted up a bit.

    I'd wager 2500 bucks or so

    The problem you may hit, if you need parts the dealers were about 4-6 weeks out on getting what is necessary. Covid issues on parts.
    I know several people that hit something in June/July and are just getting back on the water.
    Hope it's getting better to get parts.

    I had that exact thing happen a few years back. They replaced the shaft, strut, prop, and i think the dripless seal. They also had to do a little fiberglass work but nothing too serious. I can't remember exactly but it was around $4,000. Insurance covered it all.
