2020 SL or SE advice
Hello, new to the forum. I recently test drove a 2019 Supra SL and loved everything about it. I think the 2020’s will be even better. My use will be 75% or more surfing with very little wake boarding and a little tubing with the kids. Any recommendations on SL vs SE from anybody who has been on both models? The SL seemed amazing but I know the SE has more ballast and weighs more. I don’t care about the extra foot because I will rarely have more than 10 in the boat. I would assume the SL will maneuver more easily? Thanks in advance.

I recommend the SL (very little difference between ‘19 and ‘20). For surfing you don’t have to add as much extra ballast to get an amazing wave on the SL vs the SE. The SE takes another 400-600 pounds of steel bags to sink it to where the SL is.
The difference between the SL and SE if you don’t care about length is the bow. If the wide bow is your styling preference, go with that. I like the traditional bow of the SL, and my hunch is that you’ll burn less gas on the SL due to weight and the hull design for the bow. The SL seems to cut the water more than plow it in the SE.2022 Supra SL 400 ordered!

Thanks for the info. That’s what I was hoping to hear. How much extra weight do you add to your SL Ryann?

Depending on the 19 model, the 20s are getting the new trans package on the 400 and 450: 1.76:1
The 400 was a great on the 19s, but will be better now.
Agree with Ryann, bow difference in the style and more weight needed for the SE.

I do 600# lead. We just had 8 people on the boat and the wave is unreal powerful. When it’s just 2-3 in the boat, the wave is 95% of the slammed wave. That’s what I love most about the SL.
I didn’t think about the SA. If I were buying a 2020, I’d do a hard look at the SA. For me, it would be 2019 SL or 2020 SA. They moved the batteries to the in floor cooler on the 20 SL. whatttt!!??2022 Supra SL 400 ordered!

Yup, in floor cooler is gone, shallow storage tray with a garbage can slot.
Batteries are under tray but......the helm storage is clean and impressive.

Demo out on a used 2019 SL 400 today. Never been on a surf boat and I got up on the first try and road the wave, not very well, until I dove off the board from being tired. Loved the boat would like to test an SA as well but can't buy new. Same dealer has Bu and going to jump behind a 23 LSV this week so I can see what we like best. Have always liked the Supra brand more but it really comes down to $$'s. I think the used 2019 Bu is going to have a better price tag on it. But the point is, loved the Supra wave. We had an extra 700lbs lead, 3 adults and 2 kids and wave looked really good and it was fun to ride.
Thanks - D
