What about salt water?
Hi all - I'm a new board member!
I'm almost ready to commit on a new LSV, but I have 2 questions:
1. How do these boats fare in a salt water environment?
2. I'm a little concerned over freeboard - the river can often get a little rough - 2-3 foot chop.

I think you are a SC plant to see just how many times the regulars will answer the same questions. Meanwhile, my very good question on synthetic oil filters goes ignored.
Saltwater is bad for everything, including boats. Everyone will suggest you clean and rinse everything after every trip. You will still get rust. Riders bring saltwater in by the gallon right across the engine.
I have done the wakeboard thing in saltwater. I just don’t think it is pleasant.
If you have a new LSV, than your question is from someone that has not seen the boat but has “heard about them.” I have the 05, which is the last year they made racecars. They are now all SUVs with enough freeboard for any grandmother.
3’ swells - the boat will be fine all day. You’ll puke. But the boat will be fine.
My 05 is fine on big water but the buying public simply cannot accept freeboard any shorter than a bathtub.
They are great boats.

2) The '06, and '07 models raised the freeboard 3 inches - this makes you feel like you are IN the boat vs ON the boat. They also deepend the V hull to cut through the chop. I have taken mine out and had a squal come through and ran hard against thte chop all the way back in. It was NOT fun, but it took it well for a tow boat. Remember - these are designed to stay IN the water, not plane high, and they have flat rear hulls so they will POUND across chop. "your milage may vary."
