Starter stuck engaged

Two days in a row, I’ve had the starter stay engaged when I start our 2021 Mojo. Engine starts, but the starter keeps turning over. Turning the key to off does nothing - starter keeps cranking. Only way to stop it is to turn the batteries off. Normally, next start - no issue. Any one else seeing this? Going in for 100hr maintenance next week but would love some feedback if you’ve seen this before.

First thought sounds like the bendix on the starter may be sticking. But you said turning off battery released it. I take it boat shut off with key does not?

Correct, ket does not release it. Requires cycling batteries.

If I remember correctly, the key acts just like a button start on these. I know I can hit the key and release it and the engine will still crank over and start. In other words you don't have to hold the key in the start position for it to crank. I would suspect a problem with the switch, but could also be in a relay.
